12th February: Rag Week University Challenge
Leeds Met vs. Leeds University

The event was meant to kick off at 7:30pm, but the huge turnout meant things were a little late starting. Cathy and Becky did a gret job selling tickets and getting everyone organised. As the quiz got underway it was soon apparant that our team knew very little about everything. The picture round was ok, but Film & TV was terrible. Matthew impressed with his literature and scientific knowledge, whilst (Dancing) Paul helped us redeem a little pride with his Leeds trivia (always good to have a local on the team). As the marking got underway at half-time, we prepared to go to Arcadia...until they announced that we'd won (well, got the highest score among the Leeds Met teams anyway!).

At this point we had to go on stage and go up against a team from Leeds Uni (who had got a much better score in the first half apparently!). The first round was a head to head of 10 questions...which we lost abysmally by only answering 2 right. Matthew got us a point back in round 2 with a brilliant song lyrics round - well done Matt! Mel stepped up to the Jenga table, but when she took one of the blocks from the bottom, it was inevitable that the stack would fall. So it was 2 - 1 in favour of Leeds Uni with one round to go - the Jelly Round. Luckily we had Ben on our team, who managed to "drink" an entire pint of jelly in about 60 seconds. The guy from Leeds Uni barely managed a quarter of a pint! So on to the tie-breaker, and what do you know, WE WON! Incredible! So once again we get one over on Leeds Uni - even though we blatently didn't deserve it! Another trophy for the cabinet (do we have a cabinet - if not we should get one!). Thanks to all involved and congratulations to the team. Not only is it great advertising for the club, but we also helped raise a load of cash for the RAG team in aid of Martin House charity - good work everyone, and many thanks to Cath and Becky (club members and RAG organisers) for organising such a successful event!

3rd February: Knaresborough Day Walk

The first walk of semester 2 - looks good from the photos...if you were there, why not e-mail your blog of the day???

1st February 2008: Ice-skating and Pub crawl...sort of ...

We think a couple of people went ice-skating, but we never met up with them. The skating looked fun from the window of Cuthbert Broderick, although half of the rink was coned off due to an unconscious skater lying on the ice...oops.

It was a very small group that went on the pub crawl - so small in fact that we never made it out of Wetherspoons! A few members turned up a bit later, joining us for what turned out to be an uncharacteristically civilised evening!
